Before this film, I knew little about Liberace or his numerous lovers. In this HBO film, directed by Steven Soderbergh, Michael Douglas brilliantly plays famous piano player Liberace. After numerous research and YouTube videos, it is truly amazing the amount of talent that Douglas has. Matt Damon stars as his lover, which at first is strange only because Damon is famous for very strong, masculine movies such as The Bourne Trilogy and The Departed, however it was refreshing seeing him play a different type of character. If you enjoyed Milk, then you will really enjoy this movie based on the autobiographical novel.
